Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is a global problem that the WHO has taken seriously since January
2020 by declaring it a global emergency. Starting from washing hands frequently, keeping social
distance to checking body temperature before entering public facilities, it has become a routine
today. One way to measure body temperature is to use a temperature sensor. Many types and
types of sensors to measure temperature. Each type and type of sensor has a different accuracy.
The purpose of this study was to determine the level of accuracy of each type of temperature
sensor in measuring human body temperature. The sensors used in this study are the LM35 and
MLX90614 temperature sensors. The test was carried out 36 times on randomly selected adults
and then compared with a manufacturer's thermogun which is commonly used to measure body
temperature. The conclusion of this study is that the average error value of the LM35 sensor is
15.62% and the average accuracy is 84.38%. While the MLX90614 sensor has an average error
of 1.17% and an average accuracy of 98.83%. The difference in the value of this accuracy is
influenced by how each sensor works. The LM35 sensor works using a transistor where the output
voltage is very linear to changes in temperature, so the sensor can read the temperature well if it
is in direct contact with the object being measured. While the MLX90614 sensor works by
capturing infrared rays emitted by objects. The high accuracy of the MLX90614 sensor can be
achieved because it has a low noise amplifier, 17 bit ADC and MLX90302 DSP unit which the
LM35 sensor does not have
